About Far From France Bakery & Bistro

French Restaurant and Bakery

Far From France Bakery & Bistro is an asian bakery in Wilmington, North Carolina. It is listed at 1474 Barclay Pointe Blvd #201, Wilmington, NC 28412, which places it among the local businesses of Wilmington that residents and visitors turn to when they need this kind of service close by. Hours at these spots often run into the evening, later than a typical coffee shop, and many stay open on weekends when demand is highest in Wilmington. Seasonal and limited-time drink or dessert flavors are common, so a shop's current menu can differ from what is posted online; checking recent photos or calling ahead helps. Some locations in North Carolina are dessert-only with no seating, meant for takeout, while others have cafe-style seating for staying a while. Straws for bubble tea are typically wide to accommodate the toppings, and are provided automatically unless you ask for a regular one. Loyalty apps and stamp cards are common at chain locations, and ordering ahead through an app can shorten a wait considerably at busy locations during peak after-school and after-dinner hours.

Hours are published for 6 days a week. The most common schedule is 10 am–9 pm. It is closed on Monday. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. The listed phone number is (910) 833-5002. Many businesses also reply to text messages on the same number if it is a cell phone. Its website is farfromfrance.com, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

Customers rate it 4.4 out of 5 on Google across 561 reviews, placing it among the better-regarded asian bakeries in Wilmington.

Wilmington is in North Carolina, in the Southeast, where summers are long, hot and humid, winters are mild, and afternoon thunderstorms and the hurricane season from June to November can change plans at short notice. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Wilmington follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

We came in last night for dinner after friends told us about it. Alban met us at the door, and personally checked on us several times during our meal. We shared the French onion soup. I had the duck and my husband had the lamb entree with a bottle of Pinot Noir. The atmosphere: Very nicely done French bistro. As the restaurant filled, it did become a bit loud (echo from the tall ceilings and flat surfaces) but we could easily talk over it. The Service: David was great. Knowledgeable and made good recommendations on entree and wine. Checked on us but not bothersome. Alban likewise checked in. He even came outside as we were leaving to ask how we enjoyed ourselves. This was exceptional. The Food: The French onion soup was rich and everything we’d expect from that classic dish. The entree’s were very tasty and perfectly cooked. The ratatouille paired with the lamb was a bit mushy but the vegetables were tasty. The lamb could use some finishing salt at the end to perk it up. The duck was very good. Cooked medium rare with a nice crust on the skin. Very tender and the orange glaze with mushrooms paired nicely. Rice was cooked well and served separately. Again, I would suggest some

I've been here several times over the last few years. I love the atmosphere and the food. The other day I had the Croque Monsieur, a favorite of mine. Service was pretty slow in the bakery section. With several people waiting to purchase their treats, there should be more than just one person.

Fantastic experience. It’s rare that food and atmosphere and service are all on point. Great job. All the ingredients were fresh. Even the little bowl of fruit was great. The fries are amazing. Crepe was perfect. Soup and sandwich hit the spot. Oh and the coffee was lovely.

I love eating at this place but I do want to mention our most recent experience. We decided to join the folks at this restaurant for their Valentine's Day dinner (limited menu, prix fixe $90 per person). We were seated on time, at a nice little table against a wall and were enjoying ourselves very much when a hostess asked us to move out of the way so they could seat other guests in the outdoor seating. Our table was directly in front of the door to the outdoor seating! I asked the waitress if she would ask the manager to relocate us to a different table, as I did not want to get up and move every time the hostess or a waitress entered and returned, not to mention every time a customer went to the restroom. Eventually, I got up from my date with my wife to find the manager and after finding him I asked to be moved. He said it wouldn't be a problem because they were not seating anyone there currently, so I explained again that I didn't want to have to do this later and returned to my seat. Several minutes later, the same hostess stopped at our table again, apologized again but asked me to get up again so they could seat another table of patrons again. I explained I was told

Outstanding bakery! Everything is so fresh. The restaurant is so beautiful and you have the option of sitting down or taking things to go. Their crΓͺpe menu is extensive with an excellent batter. I cannot wait to eat here again! A solid Parisian restaurant in the south is always a wonderful surprise. I was very impressed. Our server was new, but she was excellent too!
